Day 11 - Daily Task - The Extreme Food Game!

Welcome back to the game!

It's Day 11 on the ROI Scavenger Hunt and the Grand Prize Draw is getting closer!

As you may have seen on the blog earlier, the theme of the day is food! For today's challenge, your task is to identify ten common food items from extreme close-up photographs!

The game will be played on a tab within the ROI Community Facebook and you can find it here. Once you enter the tab, you will be presented with 10 extreme close-up photographs like this one.

Under each one, you will find a drop-down menu with four options from which to select the correct answer. You will receive one Scavenger Hunt point for every two correct answers that you submit but, if you correctly identify all 10 pictures, you will receive a bonus of two points, meaning that a total of 7 Scavenger Hunt points can be won!

As always there is also a great Daily Prize to be won. As you may have read earlier, a great number of ROI Community members are involved in food related initiatives. One member, Ofer Vardi has released a number of iPhone and iPad apps aimed at promoting Israeli cuisine and he has recently brought out a his first cookbook. 'Israel To Go' presents kosher Israeli cuisine with recipes and artwork solicited via crowd-sourcing and we are delighted to have five copies of the book to give away. They will be awarded randomly to five people that play today's game.

Good luck everyone and check back later for the correct answers!

Day 11 - Meet The ROIers - The Foodies!

If there is one thing that Jewish people love, it's their food! Today, we're shining the spotlight on eight ROIers who have made food the focus of their innovation.

Michael Leventhal is the founder and creator of Gefiltefest: The London Jewish Food Festival. He also co-ordinates a number of other projects, including a charitable benscher (prayer book) for simchas and an exhibition of Jewish cookbooks, all alongside his day job as a military history publisher.

Jeffrey Yoskowitz is a writer and food entrepreneur. His latest venture, The Gefilteria, is a new food brand producing boutique Ashkenazi foods. The new company has appeared in The New York Times, Haaretz and various other publications.

The well-traveled Malki Rose runs her own gourmet kosher food company called 'Made with Luv Homemade Fine Foods'. She has a passion for curing, preserving, cheese making and charcuterie and is the only producer and supplier of kosher duck prosciutto.

Emily Freed is the Assistant Production Manager at Jacobs Farm/Del Cabo, Inc., where she manages eight ranches and greenhouses, which includes over 250 acres of organic culinary herbs and edible flowers. She was featured in Fortune Magazine’s online article “Look Who’s Farming Now,” as well as in Mother Nature Network’s ‘40 Farmers Under 40.’

Michal Ansky is the founder and owner of the Tel Aviv Farmers Market. She is also a food journalist and television presenter that has her own cooking and food culture show on Israeli Channel 1. Michal was a judge on Masterchef Israel!

Well done to everyone who said that Debbie wanted to play tennis with Dudu! You were each awarded 3 points! Today we were in a generous mood so, wherever possible, we gave 1 or 2 points to people whose answers were close but not quite right.

For today's Daily Prize, two people have been chosen at random from all of the correct answers, to each win $25 Amazon vouchers! They are:

Yishai Mizrahi-Varon &
Liana Berman

Congratulations Yishai and Liana! Your Amazon voucher will be delivered directly to your email address!

We'll see you all later for Day 11 on the ROI Scavenger Hunt, where rumor has it, there will be a whopping 7 points to be won!

Day 10 - Daily Task - The Answer

The Daily Task for Day 10 is now closed!

In today's task, Dudu asked for help in deciphering Debbie's clues so that he could work out where she wanted to be taken on their first date.

The first clue was a simple number-letter code, in which each number represented it's corresponding letter of the alphabet. i.e. A=1., B=2 etc.

The clue said "So, you want to take me out on a date huh? Well, my ideal date would be to play my favorite sport together."

The 2nd clue was supposed to be a photograph of Debbie's two all time heroes. It was actually a face-merge of Roger Federer and Serena Williams and, from that, we can deduce that Debbie's favorite sport is Tennis.

So, Debbie's ideal date would be to play Tennis with Dudu!

Well done to everyone who answered correctly. You will each be awarded 3 Scavenger Hunt points.

Check back shortly to find out whether you are one of the two lucky Daily Prize winners that have each scooped $25 Amazon vouchers!

Day 10 - Daily Task - Dudu's Dating Game

Hi everyone!

Welcome back to the game! Today is Day 10 on the Scavenger Hunt and the start of the third and final week of the game! You have just 5 more days in which to collect as many points as possible, before the Grand Prize Draw, when one of you will be winning the trip of a lifetime!

So, without further ado, let's hand over to Dudu to present today's Daily Task!

So, Debbie gave Dudu with 2 clues, both of which have left him a little confused.

Here's clue No. 1. To Dudu, it just looks like a list of numbers but maybe you can make some sense of it?

And here is clue No. 2. Debbie said that it is a picture of her two all-time heroes. Dudu thought that was a weird thing to say, when she only gave him a photo of one person, who seems to be a rather strange looking woman...

So those are the clues that Debbie gave Dudu. Can you work out where she wants to go? once you have worked out the answer, send it in an email to scavengerhunt@roicommunity.org.

Today's Daily Task is worth 3 Scavenger hunt points and, as always, there is also a great Daily Prize to be won.

Today, two people picked at random from those who answer correctly, will each win a $25 voucher to spend at Amazon.com!

Good luck everyone!

Day 10 - Meet The ROIers - They Met The ROIer Of Their Dreams!

This past Friday was Tu B'Av, Israel's equivalent of Valentine's Day. One of ROI Community's greatest functions is to bring young Jewish innovators together to challenge and collaborate with one another but sometimes the relationships formed develop a little deeper!

To date, there have been four 'ROI weddings', i.e. marriages between couples that met through their involvement in ROI Community. The happy couples are:

Vera Wisterova and Jeremy Hulsh
Jennifer Zitser and Dany Koren
Shaked Rogovsky and Karin Dimant-Rogovsky
Matt Bar and Rebecca Karp

We wish them all a lifetime of happiness together and hope that the future will bring many more ROI weddings!
